My top tips for nailing a team branding shoot

Are you looking at having a personal branding shoot with your team, but you’re unsure how to make the shoot work when there’s more than one person in front of the lens? Here are my top tips below to make sure everyone is looking & feeling their best!

  1. CLOTHING

What works well?

One person wearing a pattern, the other in solid colours.

Both in complimentary solid colours.

If you’re wearing the same colour, try different styles & textures to the clothing.

What to avoid?

  • Large logos & emblems

  • Both in patterns, it can clash & look busy

  • Clashing colours (e.g. don't have one person in red and the other in light blue = distracting!)

Bonus tip 💥 If you're bringing along a 'mock client' make sure they wear a solid coloured top with sleeves (soft / neutral colours are best. I recommend sleeves, so they don't look naked when I shoot over their shoulder to focus on you!).

2. CONNECTION

If you're getting snapped with someone else, chances are you've got a solid connection & we want that to shine on camera.

Closeness creates connection. While you may not sit really close together in real life...trust me, it translates really well on camera!

Try an arm on the shoulder, eye contact, sharing a laugh or incorporate movement e.g. walking & talking.

Introduce props. This gives you both something to do & something to interact with. E.g. both looking at a laptop, a phone or packaging products.

3. POSING

As your photographer, it's my job to direct you constantly. Here's what I'm looking out for:

I want to make sure you both have equal energy levels & expressions.

Avoid mirroring E.g. not both standing with arms crossed

I like to pose one person first and then have the other person join in a way that feels natural, making sure their body is positioned differently.
