Confidence in front of the camera

It’s one of your first times in front of the camera and it’s for something that’s really important to you, your ‘brand’ and your business. You feel the nerves coming in. Let’s be real for a second, unless you’re a model, it’s likely there’ll only have been a few occasions in your life when you have your photo taken professionally. It’s only normal that this will conjure up a mix of emotions for you and leave you feeling nervous. But I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way!

Be playful and open!

It’s easy to achieve a number of different looks using one base pose: try looking at the camera, looking away, smiling, laughing, a half-smile (or even no smile). On the day of the shoot, you can expect to receive lots of guidance and encouragement, and I'll demonstrate how to move and pose in front of the camera. It's truly easier than you think! Plus, I'll show you lots of images on the back of the camera so you can see how beautiful you are.

Bring along props for a sense of familiarity

It's funny, we go through our days not thinking too much about our arms, but then we jump in front of the camera and we’re all of a sudden hyper-aware of them. What do we do with them? How do we position them? A great way to get around this worry is by introducing props into your shoot. This could be a bag, a laptop, a coffee cup, crystals, oils, anything that is relevant to your brand & can help ease the nerves. They’ll bring you a sense of familiarity and keep your arms and hands busy! Not only this, props are great for adding variety & extra detail to your imagery.

Set the tone for how you'd love to feel on the day of your shoot

Find a photo of yourself that you love (or like, if love feels like a stretch) and print out a copy of it. Stick it up on your bathroom mirror, on the fridge, or beside your bed. Any prominent place that feels good to you. Now, every time you see the picture of yourself, send some loving thoughts your way and watch your mindset change. Not sure what I mean? I’ve got some examples you could use below - save whichever ones resonate with you.

I'm really proud of myself for booking this shoot, it's allowing my dream clients to connect with me.

I do look beautiful in photos, look at this one!

I love how relaxed and happy I look in this pic, this is how I intend to feel on the day.

I love how confident professional makeup makes me feel. I'm really looking forward to feeling pampered.

I love you *name* and I'm so proud of you. You support your clients in the most beautiful way.

I love and accept myself as I am right now. I deserve to feel relaxed and at ease.

This is going to be fun! I can't wait to receive even more pics of myself that I love.

‘Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space.’
— Oprah Winfrey

Last but not least, I want you to know that I've got your back throughout this entire shoot. I’ll always give you lots of feedback, direction & even demonstrate different poses for you. I love showing my clients photos on the back of the camera along the way, too, for even more encouragement!

Still freaking out?

Bring a bestie along to your shoot; someone who’ll give you loads of encouragement and help bring out your natural, beaming smile.
