How to best prepare for your branding shoot
Beautifully curated and engaging images are one of the most powerful ways to connect with your intended audience and to share the intention of your business or brand. It makes sense then, that high-quality professional photography is essential to creating a memorable online presence.
To help ensure you have both a beautiful experience and receive stunning images at the end that you feel represent you and your brand perfectly, I’ve put together my top tips below for you, so read on…
Get clear on your audience and vibe.
The first thing to consider when you’re planning your shoot is: ‘Who am I speaking to? And what do they want to learn or gain from my business?’ Brainstorm your ideal customer, get right down to the nitty gritty of where they like to eat, where they like to hang out & spend their free time etc. This is the starting point for ensuring your vibe aligns well with your tribe.
2. Create a mood board to communicate your vision with your photographer
A mood board is a wonderful tool to help you clarify the vision you have for your shoot and Pinterest is a virtual haven to get your visual inspiration flowing. Set your board to private and get as candid as possible. Ask yourself questions like “what do I like about this photo?” and you’ll soon see a clear theme emerging, which is so helpful for your shoot.

3. Stick to your signature style & natural makeup
Choose clothes you’d normally wear, that feel comfy, fit well and are flattering so your audience gets to see the real you. Opt for natural makeup that highlights and accentuates your beautiful features.
The most important thing to keep in mind? Choose a look that makes you feel amazing! It’ll shine through in your photos and you won’t be left feeling awkward in front of the camera
4. Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise!
Bring along a variety of clothes, accessories and props to create interesting and diverse images. A laptop; journal; crystals; fresh flowers; a yoga mat; anything distinctive relating to you and your business that adds something unique to your photos will be effective.
Hot Tip: Keep your brand and website colour theme in mind and be sure to select tones that match or are complimentary.
5. Be true to you!
The aim is to create a feeling in your photos that people will get when they meet you in person. Approach your shoot with a playful and open attitude! Have fun as you want to feel free and fluid in front of the camera and that means moving! Laughing, smiling, looking away from the camera, walking - all of these things help to take away the pressure in front of the camera, helps you to relax and in turn helps you to stay true to YOU!
